Remember mIRC??? It stands for Internet Relay Chat... it was a very popular Online chatting application when MSN Messenger was just at its start. Meanwhile during its heydays as the no.1 application for online chatting from 1999 - 2004(?), there were many memorable and infamous episodes which occurred in my life with regards to mIRC.
It was 2001... I could still remember it was at the end of the school, school holidays had started. Back then, my daily lifestyle was using the then-new PC playing games and chatting on IRC, besides numerous outings with my Bendemeer peeps. Back then of course, I had not taken up faith and went for any Soka activities...It was these moments that I started to meet someone unknown on IRC.
I could still remember the chat channel was #teens... a very popular channel for Singapore kids haha... Alright, I shall not mention her name on this post. Let's call her N. On the first night that we met up online, I learned that she's from one of the oldest girls school in Singapore, and to my very surprise, we were from the same primary school ! (Although she's a year younger than me, soo she's from the 1999 graduating batch.)
Well...for next few weeks, we were having numerous conversations online almost every night, at few times we even chatted on phones. And finally, we decided to meet up in town... I could still remember the very date...it was exactly 3 months after the terror attacks in America.
On that blinddate, she tagged another friend of hers along and we went on to catch a Movie at Plaza Singapura. I could still remember what show was. It was Monster Inc... it was my 2nd time watching the show afterall haha. Meanwhile, after her friend went off, we went on to have a lunch at Mac where we had quite a long conversation.
We could have walked over to Orchard MRT station if not for the rain...damn I could have brought an umbrella then. We went on over there to buy her stuffs before bidding off goodbye. Those times were short though.
Eventually, just like Monster Inc which did not have a sequel, I never got to meet her again personally. Well, we ended up chatting less and less online before she eventually disappeared from my life. Apologies as I don't wish to mention what's really happen after that blinddate. It's my lack of wisdom and childishness to blame...(Perhaps this was what always happen when I never start chanting and go for gakkai activities when I was younger...)
Very coincidentally, in my 2nd year that I stepped into Ngee Ann Polytechnic, I came across her in school and she's happened to be a classmate from one of my gakkai friends in NPSD! Well, I could have get to know her again through mutual friends but... fate was not meant to be. Anyway, seems that she did recognise me when I bumped into her in school. Perhaps she's thinking, "This lad looks familiar...?"
Once again, I came across her facebook page through the same gakkai friend. But anyway, I wish her absolute happiness and all the very best in future endeavours.
